Our family is fortunate enough to call Oregon home. It has the most beautiful views, seasonal weather and there is so much to do here throughout the year. We get a bad rep and many think Oregon (pronounced organ, like in your body, not Or E Gone) just gets a ton of rain and is some small state tucked up in the Northwest. If you enjoy the mountains, the city, the beach and every season, you can do it all here and it is worth the visit!

The state has many attractions for families, couples, as well as ways to enjoy the day all to yourself. If you are visiting soon or considering exploring our state, be sure to add these items to your packing list.
We are all about reusing, sustainability and living a more relaxed lifestyle so these essentials will make sure your trip is that much more enjoyable!
No matter where you will be wandering, comfortable shoes are essential when visiting Oregon. Whether you are out and about in the city, picking berries at the farm or hiking the mountains at the beach, having a few pairs of different types of shoes is always a good idea.
Speaking of shoes, hiking boots will need to be at the top of your list! Waterproof, comfortable and lightweight are always a good choice. If you don’t have time to shop for a pair before your trip, we have some local companies, such as REI and Columbia Sportswear, that you can shop at for good quality outdoor gear. There is no doubt you will be partaking in lots of activities, so be sure your shoes are ready to take on the adventures.
One minute it will be sunny, the next minute it will be raining. Come prepared with a pair of sunglasses because in one day, it can go from rain to sum in minutes.
PARENT TIP: Whether hiking or strolling around, don’t forget your baby carrier! It will come in handy more than you know.
As far as our weather is concerned, it can be a bit unpredictable. Just like sunglasses, be sure to pack a raincoat. This is essential!
Something lightweight is all you will need unless it is the winter months, which in that case you will need something heavier as we have had some snowy winters the past few years.
We are big into reusing, recycling and staying hydrated here in Oregon, so don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle. I cannot get enough of my Hydroflask and Love Bottle, a local company that has some glass bottle options with lots of fun prints.
When traveling, it is nice to have a tote bag or backpack-style bag to pack your goodies when out and about. Be sure to bring something comfortable that you can tote around as you will be filling that bag with all kinds of local goods.
From our Farmer’s Markets to local, handmade goods, you will not leave Oregon without a handful of special gifts and goodies. We depend on our Ju-Ju-Be bags to keep our items organized while shopping, visiting family or going to sporting events!
A camera is so important when visiting our beautiful state. There are breathtaking views no matter where you are. This is one of the main reasons we won’t be moving away anytime soon.
Have an open mind when visiting our beautiful state. There is so much to do, see, eat and explore that it can become exciting and overwhelming. Plan your trip ahead, ask for advice on places to visit, let go and your trip will be that much more enjoyable!
